From the outside, this place is downright ugly. Â The sign is beat, the place is located between a payday loan office and a vacant grocery store, there’s something scary about the wide variety of foods on the menu, and the service is just almost friendly. But, the chinese food is actually very good. Â I had the Hunan Beef lunch special which came with fried rice and a Pepsi for $5.19.
There are a lot of lunch specials between $4.39 and $6.00. Â All of them come with fried rice and soup or a drink.
Red House has been in this location for 15 years. Â I don’t know how that’s possible (maybe its a front for a cock-fighting ring?) but I’m glad it is. Â They do good food cheap and I like it.

Nice!
2 food experiences I had recently:
1. Chicken croquettes from Europa. $6. Cheesy, warm, perfectly fried and served with a couple tiny slices of roasted red pepper and a good honey based dip.
2. Braved the salad bar at the market on E. Main and 24th. Still alive. Stayed away from everything with mayonnaise. It was only $1.17 for a salad with crab meat, bean sprouts, teeny sprouts, and a hardboiled egg.
There is also a Red House between Chamberlayn and Brooke in the Northside. I think it is on Dumbarton. Right by the old Azalea Mall.
Really? Same owners?
